Alliance française

It’s time once again to start preparing for the Alliance française exams which are fast approaching.

As you know, the Alliance française is a French language school that was founded in Paris and now has centres all over the world.  The Alliance française de Toronto is the largest French language school in Canada.  It is the only institution in the GTA accredited to hold examinations endorsed by the French government and deliver internationally recognized French language diplomas.  The DELF (Diplôme d’études de langue française) is a series of internationally recognized French language diplomas delivered by the French National Ministry of Education.  Each examination evaluates the four language competencies:  listening, speaking, reading and writing.

At UMCA Richtree Academy, we encourage our students to go beyond the realm of the classroom and challenge themselves further by taking these exams.  This will be the fourth year that we are sending our students to sit for these exams.  Our students have obtained excellent results for the last three years.  Being evaluated by an internationally accredited organization has proven that our students are not only academically well prepared, but are also capable of succeeding in an international exam.

This year, our students from Grades 4 and up will be preparing for the DELF exams once again.  While it is not mandatory, it is an excellent experience for our students, who gain so much confidence from being evaluated by French speaking individuals who are not their teacher!
