Talent Show Finals

  • On April 20, UMCA held the Talent Show Finals! The talent ranged from sophisticated young pianists in the upper grades, to sturdy little orators in the primary grades. There were 2 tiers of judges.

The high school students ringed the footlights and the teachers ringed the sidelines. This   was a challenge for the performers. They had to perform to an audience on three sides, two sides being judges. Bravo to our student talent. That took courage and poise.
Piano, dance and poetry were presented. Eva had a breathtaking costume as she danced    her own choreographed tango composition. All of our UMCA girls were graceful, lithe      beauties. Sophie danced a dramatic Flamenco. Dina and her sister Yana were impossibly charming with a Russian folk dance. As for piano, we had both male and female contestants. Performances ranged within a variety of complexities. All of them were a 10/10 if there were such as thing as what we             could simply call an "Accomplishment  Footprint."

There were many, many more acts to judge. Total count for the one and only finalist winner came in at maximum votes for Nadine. Congratulations Nadine. You clinched it for the Grand Prize of the first-ever UMCA $5,000. bursary, based on talent and overall    student excellence!
Competitions are meant to be serious but meant to be fun. It was fun to watch these          beautiful young people show the results of their personal discipline but we recognize that    it is not easy to get up there to be seen by a room full of students and adults who have all         watched America's Got Talent at one time or another.

There are many more students who did not come forward for this Final Competition.        Maybe next time.

But today we proved that UMCA's got Talent.....and courage, and poise, and fitness, and             confidence and knowledge.

Great job Finalists. Kudos for entering the Competition. Congratulations to Nadine   for taking the Grand Prize!
