We have modified our existing grade report system on our school website. The reason to do so is to calculate the students’ marks precisely and to take into account various aspects influencing their final mark.
Before teachers calculated all categories (Knowledge, Applications, Thinking and Communication) by hand, but now the new system allows to generate the final mark automatically.
We would like to explain how the final mark is calculated according to the mark breakdown policy.
The final exam has a weight of 30%; and the term work is worth 70% (it consists of: tests, quizzes, class work, homework, assignments, and projects).
To calculate the final mark we must add the exam and term work in the right proportions.
For instance, if your child scored 87% on the exam and 75% on their term work you would use the following formula:
( exam mark ÷ 100 ∙ 0.3) + ( term mark ÷ 100 ∙ 0.7)
i.e. ( 87 ÷ 100 ∙ 0.3) + ( 75 ÷ 100 ∙ 0.7)= 0.786. The final mark is79%.
Combining all these aspects together we have an opportunity to evaluate the child's progress accurately and precisely. If you have any questions, please contact us.
